Wild & Wonderful WV

I hooked up with a group that was going white water rafting, mostly due to my recent connections with Chantal and Catherine (a few of my favorite people). It was going to be a quick trip, leave one day and come back the next. I really had to be back for a date I set up for myself. We combined forces with a unique group of people, which made the trip a little more exciting. I unfortunately crammed 4 other adult bodies into my car. Oooops! I won't do that one again. It was quite an adventure. Along the way I got pulled over, and not just that but I couldn't find my license. Michael drove in my stead. We arrived quite late at night, only to wake up 6 am in the morning for an early ride. Although I come to find out we really didn't need to be there that early in the morning but we wanted to be right on time...before ACE even opened.

Little did I know that WV apparently has
great white water, especially in the fall when they open the gorge and let the water out, the Upper Gauley. This weekend we were testing our waters on the Lower Gauley.

Our raft was the greatest! I surfed the white water like champs and we rode hard, and played harder. I can't forget to mention our guide, whose name has slipped my mind, was brilliant! Just like I imagined West Virginia local to be like.

We rode for a few hours, had lunch, had several opportunities to get out in the water to swim.

Friends meet family

My roommates planned a weekend in July to visit my brother and stroll about Pittsburgh. Adrienne ended up bailing out because she was super busy, i.e. she had some other parties she prefered to attend rather than go to Pittsburgh. Jeff came in her stead. I really enjoyed have a couple of my friends see what plays a huge part in my life...my family.

Highlights of the weekend included:

A visit to Primanti Brother's and the Strip District

The incline

Point State Park

Pittsburgh Pirates game visited by a little rain:

Stunna shades

I spent the day partying it up with my roommate Aubrey. We hosted the Relief Society pool party at our house in the early afternoon which had a decent turn out. I enjoyed getting to know a few girls I haven't met before. I love my sisters, they are amazing women, with so many diverse talents. Then we hit another pool party of a friend of ours, Bethany. It was in Maryland at her Uncle's house. He has a pretty sweet set up, with a gigantic backyard. Good tunes, good friends, good times. The best event was saved for last and little did we know. My friend, Kelly bought tickets to Legwarmers, an 80's cover band. She initially had 1 extra ticket, I invited Aubrey, then she told me she had another. I invited Kate, who last minute said yes. We were front and center to this awesome band. I'd forgotten how much I loved 80's music. The band was pretty fabulous themselves. I bought these amazing glasses for Adrienne's birthday which had come of no good use the previous 6 months we owned them, but we still held on to them waiting for the right moment. Aubrey and I broke them in at the concert. We got so many compliments for our sunglasses...they truly were stunna shades.
